KISKAKAS 6

The main mission of KISKAKAS Animation Film Days is to offer a selection from the most recent, emerging, innovative works from the world of animation. Beyond that, following on the traditions of the earlier festivals, opening screenings, presentations, roundtables and discussions remain in the focus.

In 2013 the guest of honour is Finland, that has in the past couple of years, decades produced several exciting, fresh works, for example the deservedly popular Angry Birds game that has appeared in different forms and become a favourite all around the world. These works are based on a special, darkly self-analysing style that has traditionally been attributed to Finnish animation. At the screenings of KISKAKAS we can see the most recent results of this emerging animation industry: a selection from the diploma films of Turku Academy of Arts' Animation Department is screened, as well as the most successful works of independent Finnish studios. The screenings are accompanied by the presentations of Finnish guests and talks, while one of the most acclaimed artists of contemporary Finnish animation, Katariina Lillqvist personally participates in the festival.

Cooperating with international partner institutions plays a key role in the life of MOME Anim. An important forum of this is the Animation Sans Frontières educational project – the screening of the best works from the participating schools is part of the program this year as well, while the most exciting student works from the California Institute of Arts (CalArts) are also on show accompanied by the presentation of Leo F. Hobaica, Jr., the Assistant Dean of the Institute teaching at the Film/Video Department.

Presentations and roundtable discussion for the profession, but also for those interested in the world of animation in more details are also organised with the participating international experts, while the discussion of Daazo about the alternative film distribution methods started last year also continues.

Presentations and round tables are FREE!
To the screenings, tickets can be purchased at the venue for 1000 HUF - Students: 800 HUF
